Return of an exceptional heritage
Some of Ghm's emblematic works of foundry art return to their historic home. Carefully preserved for several decades, these treasures were loaned to the Musée National de l'Automobile - Collection Schlumpf in Mulhouse 50 years ago.
Today, thanks to the benevolence and support of Mrs. Elia Saunier, curator of the museum, and Mr. Joël Hauer who, with his association, voluntarily oversees the conservation of part of the Ghm heritage, we are pleased to welcome their return.
Among these remarkable pieces:
- Science and Painting, part of a monumental fountain exhibited in 1862 at the London World's Fair by Ghm and now installed in Edinburgh.
- Decorative children's groups by Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (who made a major contribution to the improvement of decorative and industrial arts in the 19th century)
- Rebecca, Triton and Naiad, Satyr and Bachante - masterpieces of urban statuary
- The River of Life, by Pierre Hébert
- Neptune, wall fountain, by Emmanuel Hannaux
This return marks an important moment for Ghm's heritage and the transmission of our legacy. Come and discover these works of art in Sommevoire, where history and know-how are perpetuated!
