Our approach
Since 1837, Ghm has been committed to respecting the environment.
The Ghm site itself has been designed with this in mind, with a historic site close to mining seams, a water catchment area, forests for charcoal and sand pits to be as close as possible to the raw materials.
Today, we are proud to pursue this approach, working on each and every one of our actions to become even more environmentally friendly.
We're proud of it, we've lived it, we've been circular since 1837.
A circular economy
By integrating circular economy practices, our iron casting process enables the reuse of recycled ferrous materials. This approach reduces the consumption of natural resources and promotes sustainability.
What's more, ornamental cast iron can be restored and reused, extending its useful life. Every tonne of recycled scrap saves around 1.5 tonnes of iron ore and 0.5 ton of coal.
Certified and selected suppliers and carriers
We rigorously check and select our suppliers and transporters according to their commitments Partnership with responsible, environmentally-friendly service providers, who implement ongoing actions to reduce their carbon footprint and limit their greenhouse gas emissions.
Recycling
For many years now, we've been pursuing a paperless policy aimed at making everyone's daily life more responsible.
Ghm is a MEMBER of the professional WEEE recycling network set up by RECYLUM.
Our customers benefit from a local, free and simple solution for the disposing of their waning luminaires in an environmentally-friendly and legally compliant way.
This commitment enables us to meet the growing demands of our customers in terms of WEEE waste treatment, and to ensure that this waste is processed in accordance with regulations by operators who guarantee its depollution and complete recycling.
Ghm is constantly on the lookout for new recycling channels, and in particular 100% of wood, cast iron and steel waste is recycled.
Since 2012, the company has been involved in the paper recycling mission and is a signatory of the Citéo.
Training
Ghm has been working for many years with companies that help people in difficulty integrate into society, by welcoming and training people who are far removed from the employment world.
The company is also committed to work-study programs, with nearly 30 contracts signed in recent years.
Passing on our unique know-how is one of our priorities, and we actively promote work-study programs to maintain and develop our processes.
Ethics, well-being and conviviality
Ghm has introduced a Group-wide "ethics charter".
It provides a framework of principles based on our values and describes a code of good conduct.
We value working relationships and conditions, equality and non-discrimination, all while we keep developing skills with an annual training program.
As conviviality and exchange are part of our priorities for federating team spirit, a conviviality day was inaugurated in 2022 to enable the creation of solid links between departments and teams.
